New all-ages activity, Wildwoods, opens at The Whitewater Center
Posted on July 9, 2024
Charlotte, NC – Whitewater, an outdoor recreation destination based in Charlotte, NC, today announced the opening of Wildwoods, an all-ages activity featuring a treehouse village, a half-mile balance bike course, obstacle challenges and more.
“Whitewater has always been driven by the belief that we are genetically coded to play outside,” said President/CEO Jeff Wise. “With Wildwoods, we have expanded our ability to welcome the youngest explorers into the outdoors and do what we love to do. It’s a place to let your imagination run wild and explore.”
The experience begins with guests crossing the twin 700-foot suspension bridges and entering the Wildwoods Cabin. This timber-frame structure serves as a food and beverage outpost, with both juice and beer on tap plus grab-and-go food items.
From there, guests of all ages can play, explore and climb across the dozens of structures and elements. The Treehouse Village features several multi-story, locust-wood treehouses and platforms connected by floating hammocks and swinging bridges. Along the forest floor are dozens of climbing elements, boulder gardens, swings, and more for young explorers to experience.
The region’s only bike trail specifically for pedal-free balance bikes is also within Wildwoods. Little shredders can enjoy a half-mile track featuring mini rollers, rock gardens, and berms. Guests can bring their own balance bike and helmet or check one out on-site.
The Wildwoods footprint is fully fenced in to provide an enclosed environment for play. A Wildwoods Single Activity Pass is $18 and gives guests access to the play elements inside the fence for the day.
Wildwoods access is also included in Day and Annual Activity Passes. Access to a balance bike and helmet are included with a pass. No pass is required to visit the Wildwoods area and remain outside of the fence.
Wildwoods opens Tuesday, July 9. Hours vary by season. Check The Whitewater Center’s Daily Activity Schedule for the most up-to-date hours.
