Firefly Sync

From late May to early June, a variety of firefly species emerge and light up select locations throughout the southeast United States in perfect unison. This bioluminescent display occurs for only about 4 weeks out of the year during the species’ mating season. Guests are invited to join in the low country in hopes of getting a view of the phenomenon.

Middleburg offers a rare glimpse of the annual synchronization around the property with ample opportunities throughout the expansive pastures and riverfront views. Each Firefly Sync evening will consist of access to the historical property, a walking tour of the grounds, and relaxation around the fire pit for a $10 parking fee with a maximum of 30 cars per evening. Beverages will be available for purchase.

Please Note: Weather conditions, mating cycles, soil consistency and other environment factors may impact the emergence and display of fireflies on any given night. Whitewater cannot guarantee the emergence or volume of the firefly spectacle and does not offer reschedule dates or refunds for this event.
