Educational Programs

Hike and Seek

Experience the ecology of the Whitewater Center with a guided hike on the trail network. Students will explore our native plants and wildlife, how they depend on each other, and what they need to survive.

Grades K-12 Duration: 1.5 hours

Tree Agents

Students will explore the Whitewater Center’s forest and learn how to be “Tree Agents” by identifying different species of trees, as well as exploring wildlife that depend on trees.

Grades K-5 Duration: 1.5 hours

Tree Identification

Students will be introduced to tree identification while hiking the Whitewater Center’s forest. Participants will identify different species of trees and explore the native wildlife that depend on trees.

Grades 6-12 Duration: 1 hour

Human Impacts on the Environment

Investigate the impacts humans have on the planet through inquiry and experimentation. Students will learn about the natural world around them and how to make a positive impact on the environment.

Grades 3-12 Duration: 1.5 hours

Team Building

Students engage in problem solving and skill development by utilizing Whitewater’s Team Development Center.

Grades K-12 Duration: 1.5 hours

Zipline Engineering

Learn about the physics behind zip lining including how factors such as gravity, friction, and change in mass affect the motion of an object. Students will use engineering principles to design and test their own mini zip line made from everyday items and test their newfound zipline engineering skills.

Grades 3-8 Duration: 1.5 hours

What grades can participate in Field Trips programs?

The Whitewater Center offers a variety programming for grades K-12. Complete the Inquiry form to speak with an Event Coordinator about available options.

What is the duration of Field Trips programs?

Each program varies in length based on the group’s goals and schedule. Please discuss the duration of your stay with Events staff to decide which programs and activities will best suit your visit. Pass activity hours vary throughout the year, and are available on the Whitewater Center Calendar.
